Case Study – Snack Foods (TUCKERS)

Product: PAKSMART PC40HL Cartoner

Industry: Snack Foods

Business Needs: Ease of Use, Reliability, Safety, Size.

Reliability was required to ensure production rates of 25 cartons per minute were met in a consistent manner.

Ease of Use is important so operators can easily interact with the system. It is important that operators are able to work in a safe, efficient manner.

Safety: carton machines have many moving parts that are potential hazards. Also, hot-melt glue guns can be dangerously hot. It is vital that machinery is guarded to Australian standards.

Size: As with many companies, floor space is at a premium. It was important that any solution took this into account.

Solution:

Tuckers chose a PC40 hand-load as it was all their application called for. The hand-load version has a low start-up cost and is very compact. PC40s are very reliable and trained operators can often load cartons almost as fast as the automatic version.

They took the PC40 and integrated a conveyor as part of setting up Tuckers’ production line.

Whilst very few problems are expected, it is good to know PAKSMART is just a phone call away. With its head office in Sydney, PAKSMART is in a position to offer great service Australia wide. As all parts are sourced in Australia, long waits for spare parts can be a thing of the past.

The footprint of the PC40AL, even when specially modified for this application, is compact at <2.5m2 (plus their conveyor), which was comfortably within the space allocation.
